Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does the school communicate with parents?
Our main avenue of communication is our school website. Our News Brief, which includes various information, activities, and events is emailed to parents and posted on the school website as well. We also utilize a white communication envelope. The first day of school each September, every youngest child in the family will receive an envelope. When we have important information, these envelopes are sent home, parents are required to sign & return the envelope to school the next day to verify you have received and read the information.
Q: How do I know about school policies and procedures?
The parent handbook will be updated and available on our school website at the beginning of each school year. However, because of limitations, updates may be elaborated upon in the communication system mentioned above. That is why it is most important parents read all communications from school.
Q: How do I know if bus transportation is available for my child?
Bus transportation or aid in lieu of transportation shall be provided in accordance with New Jersey Statute (NJSA18A:39-1 et seq) and Code (NJAC 6A:27-2). You will complete the "Application for Private School Transportation" annually. The forms will be submitted your Public School District, they will determine eligibility.
Q: What do I do if I have a question during the summer months?
The school office hours during the summer months are 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. If you should have questions please feel free to call during those hours.
Q: Will I receive any communication before September?
A member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will be in touch with you over the summer to help you to feel more “at home” in our school community.
Q: How can I become involved in my child’s school?
Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a most important organization. In addition to sponsoring projects and fundraisers that benefit our school, it serves as the “link” between the home and the school. Your support and involvement is key if we want to continue the fine programs at SCS.
